Located on the North Shore of Oahu, separated from Backdoor & Pipe by a short channel, Off-The-Wall (a.k.a Kodak Reef) offers up picture perfect peeling rights and some decent lefts too. It is shallow and the reef is sharp, however barrels are on tap when the conditions line up. The waves here can get quite heavy breaking for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Off The Wall?
Gets good between head high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will get insanely crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the North, Northeast, Northwest, and West. Works on a mid tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 27 and 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
