Located in Mamanucas and Viti Levu, Jay’s or J’s is a super hollow, fast barrelling, right-hander. When it’s on its one of the fastest right-handers in Fiji breaking for up to 100 meters. Finding the take-off spot is key to surfing this place, too deep and you’ll be doing the wash around. Nail it and the barrels will become more and more makeable. Get shallow on low tide. Like most waves in the region, Jay’s breaks over a coral reef.
What are J’s (Jay’s) best surf conditions?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size inceasese. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be uncrowded (2/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini all year. Water temperatures stick between 27 and 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
