What are Desperations’ best surf conditions?
The best wave size is between overhead to double overhead. We recommend riding your standard shortboard or step-up when it’s bigger here. Desperations in Mamanucas and Viti Levu is best suited to intermediate to advanced surfers, with waves that are very consistent (8/10) and has a crew when its on (7/10). The best winds for Desperations are North and Northeast. The best swell direction is from the South and Southwest.
When surfing here in the summer months we recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini, plus a wetsuit top in stronger winds. The warmest water temperature is a warm 27 degrees in February and in winter when it’s 24 degrees in August we recommend wearing something similar; boardshorts, a bikini, plus a wetsuit top when its windy.
