Located in the Maldives, Ninja Point is the North Male Atoll’s premiere spot for longboarders and beginners. It breaks slower and with less shape than the surrounding waves and starts to close out when it gets over shoulder high. Ninjas is typically less consistent and more shifty and is definitely a wave for those who like to cruise and improvise. The takeoffs change and increase depending on the swell and tide. For this reason one wave can be fairly accommodating for several different surfers catching the wave at various take offs for their own speedy drop-in. The waves break right for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Ninja Point?
Gets good between waist high and head high. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortbaord if the juice is there. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be busy at times empty at others (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest, Southwest, or West. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures fluctuate between 29 and 27. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
