Located in the Maldives, Lohi’s is a consistent performance oriented left-hand reef break. It’s regarded as one of the best lefts in the Maldives. A down-the-line wave that gives you a high speed ride from take-off to the end section. It breaks off a flat bottom reef from deep water and peels around the tip of the island. Go deep and get barrelled off the take-off and then rip the wall apart or just pick off the wide sets and enjoy a freight train ride all the way to the end section. The bigger the swell the more demanding the wave becomes and there can be short barrels to be had on 6-8 ft days. The water is so clear and full of life that you’re very likely to see Manta Rays, Dolphins and Turtles in the water while surfing. The waves here can be difficult to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Lohi’s?
Gets good between waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is very consistent (8/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures fluctuate between 29 and 27. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
