Located near Adelaide, South Australia, Ethel Wreck is a fun reef break that breaks over a shallow rocky bottom. Named for the beached shipwreck on the sand, the waves here can be somewhat challenging and short, breaking for up to 50 meters. The waves here can be slabby, offering both barrel opportunities and spots for turns and hacks.
What are the best surf conditions for Ethel Wreck?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding your longboard or shortboard here. Ethel Wreck is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent but can get blown out easily (6/10). It will be busy when it is good (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast, the best tides are low to medium, and the best swell direction is from the South or Southwest.
