Located in between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, Crescent Head is an decent point break that speeds along a sandy bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf, and break for up to 200 meters providing speeding hollow sections for the tube hunter in all of us.
What are the best surf conditions for Crescent Head?
This spot gets good between chest high and double overhead. A long board will work well on smaller days, but bring a shortboard or fish when the size comes. Crescent head is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is fairly consistent (5/10) but will be very crowded when it is breaking (9/10). The best winds are from the West and the best swell direction is Southeast. Mid to high tides give the best window of opportunity.
In summer we recommend wearing a springsuit with water temperatures hitting 21 degrees in January. In winter a 3/2 is the norm as temps descend to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
