Located in between Coffs Harbor and Iluka in New South Wales, Moonee Creek is a quality beach break that crashes over a sandy bottom. The waves here require some skill to surf, breaking for up to 100 meters delivering hollow barrel sections where you can get absolutely pitted.
What are the best surf conditions for Moonee Creek?
This spot is best between head high and overhead, although surfable at other sizes. We recommend a longboard for the smaller days and a shortboard or step up for when it gets bigger. The waves here are good for all levels of surfer. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and will be packed when it is good (9/10), The best winds com from the West, and the best swells come from the East. The best tides will depend on the sandbanks.
We recommend wearing a springsuit in the summer with water temperatures peaking at 27 degrees in February. In winter we recommend a 3/2 wetsuit with water temps holding at 22 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
