First surfed by Australians in the 1960’s, Anchor Point is one of the most famous spot in Morocco. This magical world-class right-hand point break produce a long and fast wave that easily reaches 300 meters on a classic day. Best at low tide, this spot starts working with a 3ft swell and can hold up to 18ft. And the bigger, the better!
Thus, Anchor Point delivers its full potential with a medium to large long period NW swell, and a north easterly wind. When it happens, and after a scary steep take-off, an endless succession of speed walls and cutback hooks present themselves with a more sandy section down the point offering the occasional barrels. When it’s huge, the wave becomes so long that you can ride back into Taghazout.
Because of its reputation and consistency on all tides, Anchor Point is pretty much always busy. However, the crowd tends to thin out with increasing size.
